During this period of COVID-19, sanitisers have been running short. However, you can make your own, and make it smell great!

The below can be used to disinfect and sanitise your hands, clothes, counter space and other surfaces, groceries (excluding produce) etc. I usually take mine on my way to the grocery store so I can disinfect my hands, car door handle, steering wheel, gear stick, and spray the grocery bags down before taking them inside my home.

DIY Santising Spray

Material and Ingredients Needed

  • 8 ounce spray bottle
  • Dettol (can use Hydrogen Peroxide as a substitute)
    • Kills germs – anti-bacterial, anti-septic
  • Isopropyl or Ethyl Alcohol
    • Kills germs – anti-bacterial
  • Lemongrass essential oil
    • Anti-microbial, anti-fungal, fresh lemon-y scent
  • Tea-tree essential oil
    • Anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-viral
  • Grapefruit essential oil
    • Fresh citrusy scent

Instructions

  • Add 2 ounces of Dettol (or Hydrogen Peroxide) to your spray bottle
  • Add 4 ounces of Isopropyl or Ethyl Alcohol to your spray bottle
  • Add 2 ounces of water to your spray bottle
  • Add 15 drops of each lemongrass essential oil to the liquid
  • Add 10 drops of grapefruit and tea tree essential oil to the liquid
  • Shake rigorously

And there you have it! Your very own sanitising spray that smells amazing.
